Mind The Gap Theatre will present Jessica Fleitman’s comedy Deuteranomaly: A One-Act in Two Parts as part of the 4th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity.  The production will be directed by Mind The Gap’s Artistic Director, Paula D’Alessandris (Under The Blue Sky at The Kraine; The Cleric at 59E59). The Festivity will take place May 30th through June 24th at The Theatres at 45 Bleecker in New York City.

Deuteranomaly is a comedic look at the challenges in loving someone who quite literally will never see the world the way you do. When a couple discovers that their son suffers from red-green colorblindness, this seemingly innocuous diagnosis reveals dangerous rifts in their relationship. Years later, the boy is now a man struggling to relate to his talented painter girlfriend whose work he can never truly see. Worlds will collide in this colorful comedy of Jews and hues.

The production will feature Dee Dee Friedman*, David J. Goldberg*, Vinnie Penna*, and Erika Lee. (*These actors are appearing courtesy of Actors Equity Association). John Michael Crotty acts as Production Stage Manager.

Deuteranomaly:A One-Act in Two Parts will be performed alongside Adapting by Sinead Daly. The shows will play the following schedule at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity:

JESSICA FLEITMAN (Playwright) is an award-winning playwright and fiction writer whose plays have been developed and produced on both coasts; notably, in The New York International Fringe Festival (The Average-Sized Mermaid), 48NYC Off-Broadway, The Museum of Jewish Heritage (Hip Hop Reflections), UC Santa Barbara's Summer Theater Lab (Word of the Day), and Manhattan Theatre Source (G Train Exodus), among others. She is the past recipient of The Corwin Award in Playwriting and a commission from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and Magic Theatre. Her short story, Amber Wong-Cohen, was a finalist for the 2010 Flatmancrooked Fiction Prize and is available as a “single” on Amazon, as well as in Mixer Publishing’s Of Love & Death Anthology, in which the story was also published. She is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild of America.

PAULA D’ALESSANDRIS (Director) is the Artistic Director and Founder of Mind The Gap Theatre (MTG), New York’s premiere Anglo-American theatre company dedicated to producing new British plays and creating an exchange of works between the US and UK.  Favorite directing credits with Mind The Gap include the world premiere of The Cleric at 59E59 Theaters; NY premiere of David Eldridge's Under The Blue Sky; Gary Owen’s In The Pipeline; her stage adaptation of Gary Oldman’s Nil By Mouth, and many others. She directed three consecutive winners at the Samuel French Festival (all of which have been published) and many pieces in MTG’s popular BritBits series. Other credits include: Walter Vs. The Water Authority at 59E59; her multiple-award-winning productions at the Pittsburgh New Works Festival of the outrageous comedies Stampede! and The Butter Bin.

MIND THE GAP THEATRE exists to produce and promote new British writing in the US and to foster an exchange of new work between the US and UK.
